Second grade: Wire Armatures
It may not look like much, but this pile of wires is the beginning of second grade's plaster statues. Last week, they compared and contrasted sculptures and statues, discovering many different materials can be used to create sculptures. Students then sketched ideas for a figure in motion. The first class has begun bending, twisting and wrapping wire into a figure. They all found this to be way more challenging than it looks! With practice and persistence, they will all learn how to manipulate this material.
